Dominic Cummings usually does not elicit great sympathy in your average bear. Nor should he: his is a cut-throat profession, and he doubtless understands the rules. For once, however, one sympathizes.
Cards on table. I don't care if breached lockdown rules. Perhaps he did, perhaps he didn't. I personally have obeyed all rules, but I don't say this is a good thing; perhaps it's actually rather cowardly. One can be sure the journalists themselves have breached the rules, on their various assignations, but I've long conceded that pointing out hypocrisy, whilst good fun, is mostly pointless. No, Cummings crime is winning Brexit. He and Farage, and others, will be targeted, and the media minions scent blood. Hilariously, they won't get it.
The Karen meme is also good fun, however I think best avoided; a Karen is quite funny, whilst a Stasi informer most definitely is not. And we are in a bad place, with 'health informers' happy to see people arrested, losing their jobs, copping fines, all over the pandemic that wasn't. And now we see media beat-ups and denunciations over minor breaches of the rules. And the intent is to have Cummings fired, in the never-ending quest to reverse the Brexit vote.
This is the intent, we should not doubt this. The Brexit debate is ongoing, in the minds of the losers. I predict that within two parliaments, there will be a strong push for another referendum. This isn't much of a prediction I concede, being obvious. I also predict the losers will lose more heavily, which doesn't appear at all obvious to the losers themselves. They really need to get out more, without breaching the rules of course.
